Meet Molly!
Molly Bennett, TCRG
(any pronouns)
Meet Molly Bennett, a pioneer for adult Irish dancers in Colorado.
A lifelong creative and dynamo, Molly Bennett has always been an explorer, finding music and dance to be the most exciting adventure.
Born in Quincy, Florida, her childhood involved ballet, sewing starting at age 9, and playing the saxophone for 8 years.
Early days
As a young adult, Molly majored in fine art at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and performed in numerous theatre productions.
She enjoyed painting, watercolor, Scottish dancing, and playing several instruments like the penny whistle, bodhrán, bones, and concertina.
Dynamic duo
It was at the university where Molly met her other half, fellow adventurer and dynamo, Bill (may he rest in peace). Together they hiked, skied, biked, danced, and blessed the world with daughters Ariel and Alexa.
The ‘wains’ (wee ones)
Ariel and Alexa both fell in love with Irish dancing as kids through a friend. Molly even hand embroidered Ariel’s first solo dress! Driving them back and forth to and from class, Molly figured she ought to try out a class too, with Bill following suit, and so her Irish dancing journey began.
Irish dance for all
After Irish dancing for 4 years, Molly realized there weren’t many opportunities for adults in the sport, thus founding The Denver Céilí Club in 1988.
Emboldened by this newfound support, her students grew eager to compete, and so she earned her TCRG credential and founded the Bennett School of Irish Dance with Bill in 2001.
They later joined Ariel and Alexa in building the 27-year long Heritage Irish Stepdancers legacy, teaching classes, altering dresses, choreographing dance dramas, building their stage sets, and making people laugh.
New beginnings
When the Heritage Irish Stepdancers school closed in December 2025, Caitríona Irish Dance was lucky enough to gain Molly as part of our dance family. We are both céilí lovers, goofy goofballs, and maybe a little stubborn, but most importantly, we share the belief that anyone can dance, and that ALL are welcome in the dance studio.
Love you Molly!
